Serviced after every run: inside the workshop that keeps the schedule

Our Sydney–Darwin express has left twice a week, every week, for decades. Ask how, and most people expect an answer about drivers or trucks. The real answer is a building at the Campbelltown depot: our own workshop, where every truck comes in after every round trip.

Maintenance you own vs maintenance you book

Most operators send trucks out for servicing when the schedule allows. We built it into the schedule instead. A Darwin round trip is roughly 8,000 kilometres — so at the end of each one, the truck comes through our workshop before it's dispatched again. Not when convenient. Every time.

That's only possible because the workshop is ours: our mechanics, our service bays, our pit, our records. When you own the maintenance, "she'll be right until next month" isn't a decision anyone gets to make.

What a post-run service looks like

The truck comes in, the cab tilts, and the crew goes through it — engine, driveline, brakes, steering, tyres, lights, the refrigeration units on the vans. Underneath, the pit crew works overhead along the full combination. Everything gets written down: each service goes into the maintenance records that back our accreditation.

Then the wash bay. Partly because a green and white truck should look like one — mostly because you can't inspect what you can't see. Clean gear shows its faults.

The paperwork matters as much as the spanners

We're TruckSafe accredited, with a maintenance management scheme behind it. For freight buyers, that's not wallpaper — it's the difference between a carrier who says the fleet is maintained and one who can show an auditor the records, truck by truck, service by service.

If you're comparing carriers for a contract: ask to see this. Any operator who does it properly will be glad you asked.

Why this shows up in your freight

Breakdowns are how lanes fail. A truck that's gone through the workshop after every run is a truck that holds the timetable, keeps the cold chain powered, and lands your freight when we said it would. The workshop is where "right the first time, every time" gets made true — before the truck ever leaves the yard.
