Driver Standards

All drivers receive a thorough induction, pre-employment training, and are put through a refresher course on load restraint and dangerous goods. A passed pre-employment medical as well as drug and alcohol test are also conducted before employees set foot in our vehicles.

F&A Scarcella Transport has a high priority on safety and all drivers are trained in the following:

Coupling
and uncoupling trailers

All relevant
OH&S compliance issues

Fatigue and the
effects of fatigue in transport

Advanced
Load Restraint

All Training is delivered by Pentrans Consulting (Ian Pendered).

Fitted to every truck

The technology
behind every load

F&A Scarcella Transport prioritises safety and has invested in the following technology for every vehicle — so every trip is monitored, compliant and accounted for.

Teletrac Navman fleet telematics dashboard

Teletrac Navman software

Fleet telematics, Mass Management and compliance from the cab.

Teletrac Navman is the telematics platform running across the fleet. It brings vehicle location, trip history, driver-behaviour events, on-board mass readings and compliance records into one system — so operations sees the whole fleet on one screen instead of ringing around depots.

For your freight: The truck carrying your consignment is tracked and its compliance status is recorded — the data behind every ETA and every question we answer.

Guardian seeing-eye in-cab camera unit

Guardian Seeing-eye machines

In-cab fatigue and distraction detection, monitoring every driver in real time.

The Guardian unit by Seeing Machines is an in-cab camera that watches the driver, not the road. It tracks eye closure and head position to detect microsleeps and distraction, and alerts the driver on the spot — with the event logged for review. On a 4,000 km lane run by two-up teams, that is an extra set of eyes on every seat.

For your freight: Fatigue is the biggest risk on long-haul. This catches it before it becomes an incident.

Electronic Work Diary (EWD) showing driver hours and rest breaks

Electronic Work Diary (EWD)

Digital fatigue management — accurate, tamper-evident, always up to date.

The Electronic Work Diary (EWD) replaces the paper logbook. Work and rest hours are recorded automatically, drivers are warned before a rest break is due, and the record cannot be back-filled or altered — so fatigue compliance is a live fact, not a form completed at the end of a shift.

For your freight: The drivers on your load are legally rested, and we can prove it.

Live GPS tracking map of the Sydney–Darwin lane

Live GPS tracking

Every vehicle visible in real time, right across the Sydney–Darwin lane.

Every prime mover reports its position continuously. Operations sees where each truck is, where it has been and how it is tracking against schedule — from the Campbelltown gate to the Darwin dock, and everywhere on the Stuart Highway in between.

For your freight: Ask where your load is and you get a location, not a guess.

On-board electronic weight scale readout

Electronic weight scales

On-board weighing so every load leaves legal and correctly distributed.

On-board scales read the mass on each axle group before the truck moves. Loads are checked at the dock — not discovered at a roadside inspection — and weight is distributed correctly across prime mover and trailers before departure, backed by the weigh bridges at our depots.

For your freight: No overloaded axle, no roadside hold-up, no re-loading halfway.

Axle group Mass Management readout

Mass Management

Every axle group measured and recorded against legal limits, load by load.

Mass Management is the discipline that sits behind the scales: every axle-group reading is recorded against the legal limit for that combination and kept on file, load by load. It is part of how the fleet holds its accreditation — and why a Scarcella road train is loaded the same careful way every time.

For your freight: Compliance is documented for every load, not assumed.

Experience

These accreditation schemes above are externally audited by a third party.

Our experience is our advantage.

We have reliable, dedicated drivers who enjoy what they do. They take pride in attention to detail and delivery on time.
